Committees

If you are interested in joining any of these committees, contact the committee chairs at the email addresses or phone provided. Please check the Events and Meetings Calendar for Committee meeting dates and locations.

Volunteer Marilyn Vessels [Email]

*  Building:  Help with one of our housing or volunteer projects by viewing the Volunteer Schedule.
*  Site Hosting:  Enriches the volunteer experience on a build day by helping to serve lunch, sharing your Habitat Oakland knowledge with the volunteers, and acting as a
                           liaison between our Construction staff and our volunteers.
*  Office Work:  Helps to keep the office in order i.e. organizing materials, filing documents, and answering the phones.
*  ReStore:  Work in our re-sale shop helping with floor organization, preparing merchandise, and assisting customers.

 

Construction Gretchen Hurlbert [Email]

*  Coordinates labor, plans, and materials to build the finished product, "a simple, decent house in a decent community for God's people in need."
*  Meets on a monthly basis to research and make construction process decisions.
*  Members are often house or crew leaders, in addition to serving on the Committee.
 

Faith Relations Kimberly Donnelly [Email]

*  Cultivates Habitat Oakland's relationship with local faith-based organizations.
*  Seeks Covenant Churches and maintains ties to currently involved churches.
*  Helps to spread the mission of Habitat Oakland to as many of these groups as possible in order to increase awareness of our vision to eliminate inadequate housing.
 

Family Selection Richard Sawall [Email]

*  Organizes and carries out application, interview, and selection processes.
*  Actively researches to find the families who fit the criteria of need for shelter, ability to make no-interest loan payments, and ability to partner with Habitat Oakland.
*  Configures marketing plan and brochures to inform potential applicants of our program.
 

Family Support Kimberly Donnelly [Email]

*  Mentors families through sweat equity, home ownership education, home purchase process, adjustment to new responsibilities and continued partnership with the organization.
*  Assists in implementing home association meetings, acting as an outside resource to our partner families, and conducting foreclosure assistance programs.
*  Knowledge of mortgage collections is helpful but not required (drafting letters, laws concerning collections, etc.).

 

Special Events Brad Irwin [Email]

*  Raises sufficient money as determined by the Board of Directors to fund the needs of the organization in order that simple, decent housing can be built with Partner Families.
*  Helps to organize, set up, run, and/or clean up special events such as the Building a Dream fundraiser, the Hall & Hunter Estate Sale, and numerous golf outings.
 

Youth United Build Brad Irwin [Email]

*  Lead youth between the ages of 5 - 25 to raise the money to fully fund a house and work together to build it.
*  Members have the opportunity to make professional presentations about Habitat Oakland to corporations and schools.
