Habitat for Humanity of Oakland County Steering Committee Members are excited to kick off the 2016 “Reno to Residence” Women Build project and need support in all aspects of the project. Habitat Oakland County Women Build is where the unstoppable power of women comes together to fundraise and help transform a community, and make the dream of homeownership possible for a hardworking homebuyer.
The 2016 Habitat Oakland County Women Build “Reno to Residence” project kickoff is occurring on Monday, July 25th at 10 a.m. at 23481 Majestic in Oak Park. Everyone is welcome as we celebrate our homebuyer Cindy Randall and her children and the official start of our Women Build 2016 project! The road to ownership hasn’t been easy for Cindy. In 2010, she was diagnosed with Lyme disease and she is still trying to regain her strength from its devastating effects. Currently, Cindy and her children live in a cramped trailer home. She wants nothing more than for her children to have a safe, peaceful space to grow and play and a place for her to pray and heal. Cindy is incredibly grateful about the home she has selected in Oak Park and will also be working alongside the volunteers.
“This program brings together women from all walks of life to address the housing crisis facing thousands of women and children right in our community,” says Johnna Struck, Women Build Steering Committee Chairperson and owner of Changing Places Moving. “It’s a great way to work alongside local women, learn new skills, and support Habitat Oakland County’s mission.”
