Volunteer
Volunteers are the heart and soul of Habitat for Humanity of Oakland County. Join the 4,000 volunteers who contribute more than 25,000 hours each year supporting local families in their affordable housing journey as they gain strength, stability and self-reliance!
By volunteering with Habitat for Humanity of Oakland County (HFHOC), you can be a part of the change you want to see in your community.
We offer several opportunities to build or repair homes with families, in addition to volunteer work opportunities at one of our Habitat ReStores. You can even invite your friends, family, and coworkers to join us!

Come join us on the construction site – you’ll be glad you did. Click here to see all the volunteer opportunities at Habitat Oakland County. No experience necessary! For Company Team Building information, please click here.
ReStore Volunteer
The Habitat Oakland ReStores are non-profit, home improvement stores and donation centers that sell new and gently-used furniture, home accessories, building materials and appliances to the public at a fraction of the retail price for the benefit of our mission. ReStore volunteer tasks can include: organizing inventory, pricing merchandise, assisting customers, stocking shelves, etc. We have two ReStore locations (Waterford and Southfield) looking for volunteers – Click here to volunteer at either of our ReStores.
For information on volunteering please contact our Volunteer Department at volunteer@habitatoakland.org or at 248-860-0009.
Rock The Block needs Hospitality Volunteers
Home Preservation, as part of a larger Neighborhood Revitalization effort is another way that Habitat can support low-income homeowners in the community, so that they may maintain a safe, decent, and affordable place to live. Like other Habitat programs, the Home Preservation is designed to provide a hand up, not a hand out. To date, over 200 homeowners have been served through this program.
Hospitality volunteers assist Habitat staff as hosts of the event. They arrive early to help with set up, greeting, registration, and breakfast, traffic flow, directions, etc. Following kickoff, hospitality volunteers will help clean up from the morning events, prepare for the next day morning (or pack the truck on last day), then visit the sites to access for lunch delivery, water and snack needs. Hospitality may also deliver lunch and additional needs to the sites.
Send an email to volunteer@habitatoakland.org for more information and how to register to volunteer.
For questions about fulfilling Court Ordered Community Service with Habitat Oakland please e-mail volunteer@habitatoakland.org or call 248-860-0009. Felony charges will not be considered.
